I think it is a requirement for a habitable dwelling and my Surveyor asked me whether there was a "membrane under the concrete slab to stop damp rising."

I'm happy to throw plenty of money at this problem to fix it because the alternative (knockdown and rebuild) is very expensive but I don't think that is what you meant!! :rolleyes:

Thanks for your reply. That's the strange thing, it doesn't seem lower in the darker areas and the darker areas are faintly visible even when completely dry. The water falls correctly towards the drain. I don't know about sealer. Thanks, Crystal

An update: As it happens, my granny flat DID burn down and my insurance company paid the claim of $66,796. However, they will no longer insure ANY of my houses which have non council approved granny flats. Regards, Crystal PS Does anyone know of a good insurance broker?
