    Yea the market in brisbane at the moment is pretty bad, some mid level properties have dropped prices by 50-70k and in the top end in some cases 100k. I plan on holding of on buying for the time being and paying down debt.

    Yea the police shot dead a guy called Mark Duggan who the police called a drug dealing wanna be gangster, the family says the police shot him unnecessarily(apparently the guy was armed) and the police say they felt in danger and therefore shot him.

    Yea read the link you posted, i admit not everyone involved was from a low socio-economic background the vast majority were. The media like to point out the exceptions, but even in the article it states "many were young men from poor areas".

    I agree the issue isn't really multiculturalism its classed based, a lot of the people involved the riot viewed it as sticking it to the rich and showing the govt that they had power. Stupid thing is they burnt down and damaged the same local businesses that provided them with job opportunities.

    :D haha, so true, funny thing is a lot of the councils in the Uk have said that they would evict people in public housing if they are convicted for taking part in the riots, so should be interesting i am sure a few civil libertarians will kick up a stink over it.

    The British army was/is used in Northern Ireland and is trained in riot control, while i am not suggesting the amy be given real ammunition their numbers could be used for defence of property while the police go after the rioters. Sorry but i would hardly call those people "your own people"...
