My friends in massive credit card debt

Hi all, I met with him this morning and he's finally sat down and done his budget properly (at least thats what he's said) and will now pay me $250 a week to clear the debt. If he does that, I should get the money back fully in 2 years time. I am gonna get a proper binding contract written...

My friends in massive credit card debt

Very unlikely. I had to tell him to read the thread twice before he did once and that was only because I told him all the links to places where he could refinance the debt (such as the infochoice link, thankyou to whoever gave me that). I very much doubt he's been back on here since and that...

My friends in massive credit card debt

He's been paying $100 a week since the start but he borrowed another $2,000 off me during the period and on balance is going backwards financially when you count what he paid me and his credit card debts. I'm not gonna share the back and forth emails, but I will say the friendship is probably...

My friends in massive credit card debt

I am getting "tough" now i've just emailed him this.... "I really need to talk to you about this debt thing. I'm sorry, but when I lent you the money I honestly thought this would be the end of your debt problems and I would be paid back quickly. Now that I realise this isn't the case...

My friends in massive credit card debt

No assets no. His car is on a lease/high purchase agreement, he has no property (he rents) and his other assets are just things like clothes. Even his tv still has payments left on it. I called up GE Money and told them about the situation and they are looking into it but when I rang him...

My friends in massive credit card debt

He's already got a direct debit of $100 a week in place. He actually insisted upon this whereas I wanted him to clear the remaining $8k credit card debt first. I finally woke up and realised this morning that in the same way giving money to a drug addict doesn't help him only enables his...

My friends in massive credit card debt

Because his credit card debt was over $30,000 before I lent him the money and brought it down to $8,000, at one stage before he sold his place the debt was $60,000 plus. He's admitted his got a problem tho I dunno if he's doing enough about it. I honestly beleive if he's fair dinkum about...

My friends in massive credit card debt

Hey guys, Look, im gonna be honest here as I haven't so far. This is painful for me to say it on this forum specially as I consider myself smart with money. But he's not in $30,000 of credit card debt. He's in $8,000 of credit card debt. I lent him $22,000 out of my own pocket, out of...

My friends in massive credit card debt

It was around $60k+ at one stage and he sold an investment property/old PPOR to lower the debt. He will get out of it eventually, I mean, his on a huge income (over $150k a year gross). But any ways of refinancing the debt to a lower rate are helpful at this stage. I leant my friend...

My friends in massive credit card debt

Hey guys, Haven't posted on here in well....ages. A close friend of mine (not it's not me), has managed to get himself into very very big credit card debt (about $30,000). He's currently paying 30% P.A. interest on that debt and i'm looking at refinancing options for him to get the...

    CANBERRA Property Network Meetings

Hey guys, I'm the one to blame for CRIN :P I was asked to take over as president of CRIN cause no one else wanted and and I accepted, organised one event and lost interest. I'd still like to attend some meet ups if people are wanting to organise them but I don't want to be in charge of...

    The stupidity of vetting agencies.

I've been through some of those processes myself and yes it can be a frustrating process. I know a guy who took a year to get a classified level defence clearance because he was born overseas and had done alot of overseas travel.
