    Birdsville Races

Take some goggles, I was there in 1999 and it was windy creating a dust storm. They were selling disposable goggles for $5 but sold out by 10.00am. I offered a guy $20 for his as the dust was terrible. By midday I had guys offering $50 for them.

What to do with my DT and company trustee

Thanks for all the replies. I'm thinking if I had no immediate plans I'll shut it all down. Considering the annual costs it wouldn't be much more to start a new one anyway, and then there's no risk from previous dealings. If I go ahead with my little handyman/bookkeeping biz I'll seek...

What to do with my DT and company trustee

Haha...no worries I'm interested too. I kept my business account in the company name open as well, under advice from my accountant. The $10/month really peev's me off.

What to do with my DT and company trustee

That's what I was worried about. It was a pizza shop, however we employed [U]a lot[U] of staff over the years. Maybe it'd be ok for my little handyman venture, it wouldn't have any assets really.

    Regional NSW & Granny Flats

I've done a small cheap build in Valentine (Lake Macquarie), 38m2 with own access via lane way. It easily rents for $255/week. If I'd spent another $30k I'd Ibe getting around the $300/week Mark. It's on ppor though and I wasn't willing to sacrifice anymore backyard. They are now catching...

What to do with my DT and company trustee

G'day, I have a Discresonary Trust with a company trustee that was used to own my small business. I've since sold the business and wondering what's the best use of the DT and company? Obviously I'll be seeking specific advise, but just after a few ideas/education. Would it still be useful to...

Can you service your existing debts if rates rise to 10% or 18%

At 18% I would be stuffed! If rates jumped to 9% over night, I'd ok for two years. At which point my wife and I would need to go and get real jobs again. I see 9% as a real possibility at some point down the track, so I'm working to eliminate that threat over time, increase cash flow...

Minimum return you'd do a Granny Flat for?

Hey RetireRich, Another fellow terrace investor  I'm in early stages of pricing atm but as a comparison I had a small GF built for $72k in Lake Macquarie, the builder came from about 3hrs North of newcastle. This was three years ago though, and I went super cheaper and small as I...

Minimum return you'd do a Granny Flat for?

As always very practical advice Skater. I've been very similar with this one, last year was thinking of it but instead bought another unit in Cairns for the same cost. Now I too am looking at it again. Plan to keep this one long term as I like the cash flow we already get from it and...

Minimum return you'd do a Granny Flat for?

G'day All, One of my goals this year is to increase my cash flow to $xyz which is about another $20k p.a. The RBA has done some of the heavy lifting already :) The other low hanging fruit I'm considering is a granny flat on my Raymond Terrace property. The block is suitable for it, but...
