Pencil me in - might be able to make it if I can get the day off. Have never been to one of these things, what do they usually involve? Talking about life, investing and the great beyond over a few beers?

    High Yielding Shares Again

The 26.5% figure was just on the Bell Direct research page for the share and I was using it as a rough figure but couldn't figure out how they came to it thus the confusion. As someone said, looks to be a cherry picked number from 2013 to encourage unsuspecting punters to make a trade.

    High Yielding Shares Again

These numbers I'm getting are off of the company's profile through my stock broker (Bell Direct) but they seem to add up with some quick math.

    High Yielding Shares Again

Apologies, I was looking at some different numbers. However VHY is currently showing a current shareholder return of 26.5% over the year. The dividend yield after tax is a bit under 4% and the share price is roughly what it was this time last year so where does the 26.5% shareholder return...

    High Yielding Shares Again

The guys who are in with Vanguard, what sort of returns are you getting? Looking at their website, they advertise very nice looking growth but when you look at the dividends they're paying it's only in the realm of 1-2% gross yield. And the price per unit moves sideways so where does the...

Anyone with experience in getting stuff manufactured?

Good points, thanks. How did you go about finding a manufacturer?

Anyone with experience in getting stuff manufactured?

Basically how do I go about sourcing someone to manufacture something I've designed and then get that product to me here in Aus? Are there 3rd party groups who specialise in this or is it possible to go direct to a manufacturer? How do people normally go about having the product that's being...

Anyone with experience in getting stuff manufactured?

Does anybody have any experience in having a product that they have designed manufactured overseas/locally or know where I can find some people that have experience in this?

    Really difficult tenants--any advice?

Don't stereotype all defence members based on experiences with a minority. Unfortunately people will exploit the system, whether or not they wear a specific uniform. Hopefully your new PM helps you sort it out.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 shot down over Ukraine, 295 dead, 27 Australians dead

Occupants would have experienced an explosive decompression. At ~33,000ft after a quick decompression an ordinary person will likely have less than 1 minute of useful consciousness (have enough blood in their brain to think clearly). That's assuming a fairly relaxed person. Add in the fact that...

Should Australia Go Nuclear? (or at least move further down that path)

Nuclear is better than coal. It reduces emissions, has prevented more deaths than it has caused (NASA study), cheaper to run, Aus has an abundance of the required raw material, will stimulate a number of sectors and will likely improve our standing as a small global player. There are legitimate...

    Legality of claiming spouse's business?

Hypothetically, my spouse cleans my IPs, mows their lawns etc. She has an ABN. I pay her $10,000 for her services over the course of the financial year. Can I then claim the deduction for her cleaning, mowing etc services and end up being overall in the positive? Eg, pay her $10,000 for...

    Naive 21 y.o chasing advice

Thanks for all of the info! The eligibility of the first home owners grants seems a grey area and depending who you speak to will give you a different answer. Will look in to it though.

    Naive 21 y.o chasing advice

Looking at a repayment calculator (at http://www.aussie.com.au/repayment-calculator.htm), P&I repayments are only roughly $200/month more than IO repayments. Given that I'll be able to receive a $200/month subsidy for the loan, would that be the wiser choice? I believe I can't make the loan IO...

    Naive 21 y.o chasing advice

I'm posting out in January so won't be eligible for either grants. I won't be able to access them for another few years due to work requirements (moving around a fair bit - a bit of stability should be achieved in 2015-2016)

The money is currently in UBank; the buggers change their interest rates too often for me to keep up! Would you wait and take advantage of the subsidies and wait a few years or jump in now?
