    Thank Goodness for That.

It not about the revenues, it's about the growing debt: http://www.debtclock.com.au/ At some point it has to be paid back...:(

Finance Brokers and Buyers Agents role in the Forum

Well....if it's not advertising then why have it there:confused: I wouldn't link my business here as there would be no benefit, hence the guys who do list them perceive some benefit, right ;) Anyhooow...As I earlier said...all happy now :)

What happened to the mining boom?

Ok...discount the developed countries accepted rate of 3-1 or 6-1 and just work on the lower figure of 13-1. It doesn't matter what you compare it to..if the population cant afford to buy the property if won't sell. Wouldn't the gov there be better to build lower cost housing to accommodate...

[Melbourne] Thoughts on apartment as first home/investment?

Affordability is the key. Folk can argue all day long about a shortage of houses, but if the younger folks can't afford to buy them they will live at home longer, rent, share accomodation or squat.

ABC The Business on Negative gearing

I know a lot of PI investors that have more than 1 IP NG and they are clueless, sure some could be savvy but IMO you can't say they all are :) This is like saying people who own more than one dog know more about dogs than people who own one dog?? Dog knowledge is not based on the number of...

ABC The Business on Negative gearing

http://www.couriermail.com.au/realestate/news/mortgage-burden-unbearable-for-aussies/story-fndbosu3-1226499423831 We are in for a rough ride, with rising delinquencies on these record low interest rates (and the plebs complaining that banks not passing on a 0.25% rate cute is killing them!)...

[Melbourne] Thoughts on apartment as first home/investment?

Oh... what happens if a property is advertised for sale...doesn't sell, but then gets taken to auction. If the bidder actually first saw it as a For Sale rather than an Auction should it still count as an auction....see what I mean, it's unregulated and the results are hence unreliable..Under...

    Melbourne purchasers beware!

http://www.rs.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin/rsearch?a=ars Why not use RP Data results at 57.5% ? Different results from different sources on supposedly the same events (auctions). If there is a discrepancy then which source do you use? For such an important indicator I would have thought we have...

No, I threw that in there as a general post to the population that have suggested it. Seems like some only want to read what they like to believe and dislike any challenge or questioning of the accepted beliefs? :)

Lack of information on property web sites

Agreed, we rang an agent recently, then emailed them..spoke with an agent..got the address..went and had a look at the property (it was a large acreage block with a large shed)..spoke with the agent while we were onsite re a few queries we had and have never heard from them since:eek: I would...

    Bye-bye to boom and bust

I'm actually a bit confused by this article. It seems they are only talking about stabilisation after a decline in the market (extended low). Shouldn't there also be stabilisation at the top end (or any point in the cycle when you think about it) as well before dropping or rising again? Maybe we...

Finance Brokers and Buyers Agents role in the Forum

Agreed. I actually accept the arguments put forward by the previous posters on this topic. I can now see these guys do provide a benefit to the forum that quite likely outweighs any negative from my original perception of "ambulance chasers". This is only via healthy discussion and reflection on...

Finance Brokers and Buyers Agents role in the Forum

Seriously you need to re-read your post.. If this was the case they would not be displaying business contact details in signature bars. If this is all they have to offer then why advertise?? I would think without either of us the forum would continue regardless.

Finance Brokers and Buyers Agents role in the Forum

You've mixed ya self up here sorry. If they spend there own free time here and it's business related isn't this working  If they were not displaying a point of contact for a business directly related to subject of the forum they would then be just blabbering on like the rest of us...

[Melbourne] Thoughts on apartment as first home/investment?

Would be nice if common folk could afford to buy in some suburbs :( A house is not a luxury item (read Ferrari) it is somewhere to live (read Mazda). Why shouldn't all be able to afford a Mazda? Isn't this the guts of the article I linked to  If the average punter cannot afford...
