Is it too hard to replace a fridge seal by yourself?

Thanks everyone for the input. I'll pass on the fridge. It's not worth it when a new one would be maybe $900 from 2nds world. I've always wonders how shops makes money on these 50 mths interest-free deals. That sounds like a long, long time to lend someone money without charging interest...?

Is it too hard to replace a fridge seal by yourself?

Huh? Sorry I don't get it..... Thanks everyone, I've decided to pass on the fridge. It's too exxy for what it's worth if I factor in the cost of replacing the seal. Actually, just the seal itself would cost around $60 minimum I think. Getting it replaced by the seal company would be around...

    LMI was waivered

Is that because in case the one bank you have borrowed from collapses? What happens in the event a bank collapses anyway? Let's say bank A goes into liquidation and is bought by bank B. What will happen? Will Bank B call in all loans?

Sub leasing inner city apartment to other people ?

Not sure if renting rooms out individually is illegal per se. Depends if, according to the law, past a certain point, the house would need to be registered as a boarding house. I mean, I'm sure it's not illegal to rent out a room or 2 in a house. But would there be a point where it becomes...

A New Twist on the Nigerian Scam

Hur hur, we should test it and see if we can get some money sent (no matter how small the amount) without having to send any money over. What your friend is doing sounds like fun but do be careful because the scammers may track him down and kill him. I think people who have businesses scamming...

Is it too hard to replace a fridge seal by yourself?

Looking into buying a 2nd hand fridge. Good deal at $350, but door seal needs replacing (freezer compartment). I think getting a fridge-seal company to do it will cost $200! Is it just too fiddly and difficult to do yourself? If it's not worth it I'll pass on the fridge.

A New Twist on the Nigerian Scam

So what happens after the money is transferred? Apparently they ask for a transfer via Western Union or something like that. But what if you don't transfer the money, do you get to keep it? Is that legal? I've always wondered how these scams work.

    Investing into Taxi Business

Yeowch. Day drivers pay less than night drivers did you say? Is that because the day shift is less lucrative? I think the hours of around 1-5am are very lean for tax drivers. When hailing cabs at this hour I have seen cabbies swerve, speed up and cut in to be the first to get the passenger. I...

Sub leasing inner city apartment to other people ?

Walk around some of the apartments in the city and you'll frequently see 2 sets of bunk beds per room, per apartment. So that would be at least 8 adults in a 2 bedroom apartment. Does the department of fair trading check if you rent multiple properties and lodge multiple bonds in one name? I...

    Method of Payment in China

but what about corporate cards? I think most employees pay (or their company pays) off their corporate cards on time. Because normally there is disciplinary action from the company if they don't.

    Investing into Taxi Business

    Investing into Taxi Business

So does, say, premier cabs in sydney operate on a 'share' basis? Is each cab individually owned? I wouldn't have thought so. I thought someone would have had to set up a company with at least 10-20 cabs, get a licence, hire drivers (or hire the cabs out to drivers). Interesting! I'd never...

    Investing into Taxi Business

? How do you lease a number plate? Doesn't the whole cab have to be leased? Because they are painted in the colours/logo of the fleet. In Sydney we have premier, combined, st george cabs..... So I don't know how you could lease a number plate.

    Method of Payment in China

btw, can someone explain to me why is it banks love you to spend on their cards? What is the benefit for them? Is it just the fees levied, which are usually a percentage of the expenditure? Let's say you buy $100 worth of goods from Shop X. You purchase with your Amex. So Amex pays Shop X $100...

    best landlord insurance?

Haha, that's funny! OK, OK, not so funny if you really needed to claim. OK, let me look into QBE. My strata is insured with CHU, who are underwritten by QBE. I don't have a choice in regards to the strata insurance. I had better get away from AAMI as quickly as my little legs can take me...

    Can I be refused aircon?

I feel for you. Can you ask your smoking neighbour nicely to please avoid smoking close to you as you are pregnant? Is there a common garden downstairs they can use? Hope they are good enough to consider your needs. If your AC request us refused or delayed, can you make do with a portable...

    What are indicators of asbestos?

I have been looking at some older apartments. Some of them are beautiful art-deco apartments - wooden staircases, banisters and stained-glass windows remind me of churches! What are indicators of asbestos? Should asbestos-buildings be avoided at all cost? I don't want to risk my health by...

Can you open a UK savings or bank account from Australia?

How come you never left them open when you came over here? I guess it should not be too hard, if you are from there. When I was there ( 5 years ago), citizens of low-risk countries (Australians included) could open an account with Barclays even on a tourist visa. It was basically a...
