    Flat pack

Sounds good! Which begs the question why don't they make actual flat pack vanity units to start with?! Are the filler panels readily available in a lot of dimensions, or did you just buy the end panel (ie for an island bench) and cut from that? I'm thinking if I will be wall hanging, then I...

    Flat pack

What has been people's success with using flat pack kitchens etc.? Do you find them good enough, or is it really worth the extra $$ getting in a cabinet maker? It seems to me when creating a kitchen, the layout, colourings and styling are what can make a kitchen look good. So if you get...

    Tradie rant thread

I really don't get tradies. I'm sure there are a lot of decent ones around, but lately I've hit a brick wall. They turn up really late, don't really seem to care, and just show a general disinterest. I'm trying to organise a rear extension, so I'm getting quotes on site clearing, plumbing...

Haha Geoff... yes I would fill up that cavity wall.. Har Har Actually I should get into more landscaping.. I'm good at pulling out roots.. I did some looking on the zoning thing.. It appears Residential Zone 1 is fine.. you just need to apply for a permit to use as a dental practice...

    Starting a medical centre?

Hahaha That cracked me up. Sometimes if people ask for discounts, I use the line "Sure Mr Black, you can have it for half price... but I'll only take half of the tooth out" :D Thanks for all the posts people.. I'm scouting out houses on main roads across from shopping centres now..

    Starting a medical centre?

Thanks, Yeah I check DJS from time to time..I won't comment on the reputation of the guy that runs it.. I think goodwill these days is overrated.. Many of the practices are asking quite a lot too.. Plus I like the idea of somewhere close to home that I could possibly make some extra money by...

    Starting a medical centre?

Yeah I have a few colleagues that I may be able to approach to join up.. Although ideally I'd like a multiple practitioner practice, it will take time to build up a good patient base for one person, let alone two.. so that would be the reason that someone would be reluctant to join up i...

    Starting a medical centre?

Yeah you guys are right.. but there is also the factor of setup.. Probably looking at minimum $200K to set up equipment and fit out.. just for the dental side of things.. I am being negative though.. I guess a bit cautious.. especially knowing I can't expect to walk right in to a patient base...

    Starting a medical centre?

Possibly.. that would be the ideal option...although finance could be the problem.. It would be hard to get an idea of a fair price to offer though.. considering its larger than most of the surrounding shops.. I'm guessing it would be probably out of my range..

    Starting a medical centre?

Starting a medical/dental centre? I remember reading a while back that someone here did something similar to this.. Anyway, I'm a dentist, and have been think of starting a practice in my local area for a while. There are a few in the main shopping area.. but there is a relatively new...

    VCAT appeal...by someone selling...

Thanks Micheal for the insight. Haha Apocalypse... Already thought through all that sabotage...sewer water tipped in the bathtub, dog poo in bags under the pillows...etc.. But seriously, the last thing I would want is for it to be passed in.. I just want to see them go after all the...

    VCAT appeal...by someone selling...

I have a proposed double storey approved by council, but an objector behind me has appealed to VCAT. A mediation has been scheduled by VCAT for January. Today I noticed a forthcoming auction sign in the objectors house!!! All this time wasted prolonging the submission with his appeals, and now...

    plumbers(is it just me?)

I met a bloke at work who is a plumber...in his late 30s..been doing it all his life.. He was bragging to us how he works for a big airconditioning company and installs aircon units..he said he has no idea what he's doing..no idea how the aircon works..just the basics on installing..and he's in...

    VCAT Hearing...how to defend?

OK. So the council has issued a notice to grant a permit for my proposed double storey rear extension. This includes a rear balcony. They have imposed some conditions. The rear neighbours objected to the balcony and rear windows, but the council approved them. Now the rear neighbours have...

    Plastering over..plaster

A colleague of mine has received a few quotes for re-plastering his house..all roughly about the same. Some of the plasterers have recommended plastering directly over the existing plasterboard, whilst others have recommended removing the old board entirely. Its an old house and the concerns...

    Matching up old floorboards

Fredo : thanks, yeh thats what I planned to do anyway, just that the guy I spoke to was adamant it would be fine with new boards (and at roughly 1/3rd the price) Layer181: thanks for the staining tip...I'm basically reno'ing a dump, have totally guttered the house... All the boards that are...

    Matching up old floorboards

I have approx 100yr old Baltic pine flooring, which has never been sanded. There is a sizable section (around 50metres) that needs to be added (was old fireplace) and I need to match in. I have staggered the joints and am ready to add the flooring. In the past for small sections I have bought...
