Comparison between two ovens - any thoughts?

I'm an oven/stove repairer, fixing hundreds of ovens annually, so very qualified on this topic. There are many no name "builders brands" out there, some very good, some absolute cr#p. You need to physically see them inside and out, and judge for yourself. Lots of poor quality ovens from...

    What tradie fixes this?

One silicone gun and a few tubes of no more gaps will do the trick. Wipe the xs off with a rag in soapy water. Easy.

    Somersoft Cars

I sold my big ol beast, a 1981 Ford Bronco XLT 351 earlier this year. It was in very ordinary condition, with more rust than when I bought it 5 years earlier. Still, I got about $1500 more than what I paid for it. An unlikely future classic I think, and am sure I will regret selling it one day...

Changing 2 tap heads to 1

Isn't it easier and cheaper to install a flick tap, rather than the old type? Flick taps are cheap to buy and install, and i've always found them very low maintenance. Not sure why anyone still uses the old type anyway.

    Thoughts on Regional Vic

^^^That's true. Some regionals look like very easy to generate more land releases, land everywhere. But the reality with some is mining overlays, flood zones, various other zonings etc and other obstacles, well located land can be hard quite to come by. Easier than the big cities of course.

Things you miss most about your childhood house/suburb?

I remember growing up in Traralgon in the 70s and 80s.... the kids in our street in and out of each others houses and lives. The backyard (actually driveway) cricket, Tippetty run, over the fence is six and out. Building cubbyhouses, mushrooming, blackberrying and climbing massive pine trees...

    Thoughts on Regional Vic

Point taken about commuting, no RRL out to the East, but is still a 160 km/h VFT line. Very quick from Traralgon to Dandenong, but unfortunately, clangs along behind suburban trains after that. Hopefully upgraded rail lines out to Dandenong will fix that in not too distant future. Also, I would...

    Thoughts on Regional Vic

For such a long thread, I was wondering when someone would realize that regional Victoria includes the East of the state as well. BoxDog, you are approximately 1.5hrs to Traralgon, with it's very strong local economy. Good GC and yield over the long term. Land shortage there too. If near...

    TV Poor Reception

Technology is changing. You will most likely now need a new antenna and cabling suitable for the new digital signal. It doesn't cost that much. Unless someone in the game can correct me that is...

    Aluminium window repairs

There are also new tracks that can slip over the existing buggered tracks. Also, make sure you only ever use the steel rollers on sliding doors (with the small pop in rollers). Stay away from the nylon rollers, they don't last. see: www.cowdroy.com.au

    BATHURST Last Holden Vs Ford

I really enjoy sitting down for the whole day and watching Bathurst on telly, including the pre race stuff. It may seem "bogan" to some, but I just love the event. Watching it takes me back to the old days of Brock/Johnson etc. Great history and tradition. Red vs Blue. Go the Fords. The...

    Lighting advice for downlights

http://www.sunnylighting.com.au/Products.asp?GUID=192 These (ECOGEM 12W LED) are terrific, and good value. I bought them at AWM Doncaster. Around $60 each. Fantastic spread of light for down lights.

    Lighting advice for downlights

If you stick to a minimum of about 13watt LED down lights, you will have no problem. In fact, they are brighter than the old 50w halogens. Not cheap though. You will need to pay upwards of $50 per downlighting kit, including driver (transformer) plus installation. I installed six in a new...
