Hi Robyne, just wondering - is your "wealth manager" wealthy?

    Wireless Internet..

Yeah - everything is crackable depending on how much effort you go to. Thats why I was saying that WPA is the best unless you have national secrets that you need to hide. As with any sort of authentication you shouldn't use short simple to guess passwords.

    Wireless Internet..

WPA is very simple to turn on and solves the problem without having to stuff around with MAC addresses and routing entries etc. Unless you have national-secrets stored on your network its as safe as you would need. People should read the manual instead of just plugging things in.

    Wireless Internet..

Most of the wireless access points provided around the city and at airports are pay for access, although some coffee shops have free connections so long as your buying coffees. As for protecting your own wireless network it is extremely simply and is usually as hard as specifying a password. WEP...

    Different Implementations of the LOE

Whats the worst case scenario here... you'd have to sell assets to repay debt???

    Different Implementations of the LOE

Great start to a thread and good summary of LOE KeithJ! I'm wondering if anyone that is using any of the LOE methods (or planning to) can explain how taxation would work? When I'm explaining this to people it always comes back to the fact that using your equity for lifestyle expenses is...

    Any Mac drivers out there?

why you would want to run windows on a mac baffles me - OSX is so superior. If you just have that one windows program that you can't do without, Virtual PC would suffice unless it was games. Bootcamp will be available in the next verion of OSX - Leopard, later this year.

Why are WA pms so expensive?

yeah your probably right Rixter. I self manage because of the exhorbitant fees I've been offered even with trying to negotiate. If they would just charge a flat 7% or 8% I'd probably go for it. I used to pay a flat 6.5% in melbourne and they were great.

Why are WA pms so expensive?

Hi Rixter, you have done well in your negotiations to get those rates. Can I ask how many properties you have with that agency as I would assume you get more of a discount for multiple properties. Another thing is that the % they ask for is just the beginning. Then there's fees for the routine...

    Capital Guaranteed Funds

Hi Ricardo29 - what are you trying to say in your post above? How is it related to the topic?
  12. J

    Capital Guaranteed Funds

Yeah thats true - only "some" funds do it this way - as in buying capital protection with "term-deposit" like funds that can eat up to as mcuh as 80% of the investmetn capital. Allot use put options of various types and I'm sure there are many other ways as well.

Peter Spann 1 Day Investor Update

So the enhanced income fund isn't about buy/write ? I thought from the posts above that it was a buy/write fund like the "Donut's" current one but with the added feature of trying to take advantage of dividend run-up? (and capital protection.) Peter, are you able to confirm if your new...

Peter Spann 1 Day Investor Update

yeah I agree... on the attracting attention part. "ma and pa" investors happily seem to put their money into australian share funds with no capital protection mechansims as well though.

Peter Spann 1 Day Investor Update

Thanks for that Peter. By "dividend run-up" do you mean taking advantage of the fact that some stocks increase in price just before a dividend payment? And, is this somehow sitting on top of the buy/write strategy or is it a completely different strategy - the reason I ask is that one of the...

Peter Spann 1 Day Investor Update

Hi Peter (if your listening)... are you able to offer any details on what your Macquarie based product will offer over and above Macquarie's Buy/Write fund? Are you adding capital protection somehow or offering 100% finance, etc? Why would we wait for your fund instead if just investing in...
