    Is Bendigo past it's prime?

I thought there was an oversupply of houses for rent in Ballarat. I've seen a couple of posts from people talking about vacancies and having to drop rents. I haven't checked it out myself.

Ouch - $30K being taxed and not much deductions to off set

Hey BG, congrats on reaching the point where your money is working for you to the extent that you can rest up. Seriously, you're where most people are aiming to be. Nothing to do with me but life's too short to work two jobs if you don't need to, enjoy your free time :)

    Brisbane BA needed

What were you looking for in that price range, what was your spec? What feedback did the BA's you contacted give you? In my experience they'll tell you what you can expect to buy, or not in your price range.

Apparently I'm considered "Rich" or "Loaded"...

Well, you mentioned the word "girls" which is obviously a great source of excitement for some on this forum who are now working themselves into an absolute frenzy trying to think of any vaguely amusing (or not) comment that their brains can muster that involves "girls". Not sure if there's any...

Ouch - $30K being taxed and not much deductions to off set

Have you had a meeting/Skype with your accountant to review your return? If you're anything like me then you'll be paying your accountant a lot of money, so ask them, is there anything else in my scenario that I could be claiming? They will know your circumstances better than anyone on here...

    Pics of Your Pets!

Like neeko's pooches our Cookie is a rare breed, she's a " Carnarvon special" c/o Carnarvon pound. Also known as Saint Cookie, she's barely put a paw wrong in three and a half years with us.

Cheap asses - at what equity position did you begin to relax?

True, I forgot that one of the reasons I'm so tight just now is there's nothing to buy in this town. Moving down south next week which will see the start of a regular KFC blow out. Don't care what it costs, I've reached my target and throwing caution to the wind :D

Cheap asses - at what equity position did you begin to relax?

We don't have expensive tastes, not into expensive suburbs and restaurants etc so needing to be a tight *** was never an issue. Always worked and had enough for a nice home, cars, holidays etc. Nothing flash, just very comfortable. Now rental income has replaced a working wage I've changed...

    Purchasing a Puppy

OMG when will people ever get over this need for designer pooches. See all previous posts, zillions of absolutely beautiful, unique dogs with loving personalities and zero issues all waiting for a home before they get put down. Don't feed the trade in breeding, it's about money not about...

    Howling dogs

I've got one and agree they're the most amazing animals. Again, if you want a dog why go to a puppy farm/breeder for a designer dog when these guys are clearly the best?

Buying investment property in Ararat Victoria

Shame as it's a lovely area. If you're hoping to live/retire there in the future then invest elsewhere and just rent or go for your dream retirement pad there just when you're ready to move into it.

    Swimming pool cleaning

Lol I have one of these in an IP but luckily it's about to become a PPOR. I was having monthly services by the local pool company which very quickly became a PITA due to the never ending service bills. If I was renting it again in the future I would have any new lease agreement state pool guys...

My latest purchase: 3 bedroom house in Wellington, NSW.

Hey mja, love your story! I have some similar properties, I think I posted earlier. These can and do grow lots and give excellent cashflow, it's all about buying well. Keep posting the updates :) We've made most of our money by increasing our salaries, buying good cashflow properties in the...

FIFO - a question of fairness

Hey yadreamin No one wants to hear a positive story, its just not news is it? :) I'm not FIFO but probably set up for life like many others with a few small sacrifices working remote. As you said, like anything in life, some blow it or abuse the chances they have. Many do extremely well but...

How much do you spend a year (living expenses)?

We budget $25k for two adults and a dog. (We spend between $500-800 per month of groceries $800 is when we're topping up the wine cooler or the meat freezer). That would cover all costs and some holidays. Plus $10k pa rounded up for the mortgage (soon to be history). We have this covered by...
