    Trading International Shares

Strange etrade is missing international stocks when the rebadged directshares has it. AFAIK you can't margin on non ASX stocks but you can get it on managed funds  Some CFD providers would do more outside the box stuff.

    BHP-where to next?

Check out who is the top shareholder in ERA then say RIO has no exposure to that ;)

    BHP-where to next?

I kept my CGJ longterm when the broker more or less questioned my sanity in buying them to begin with. Sitting on just over a $10 gain each plus dividends along the way. WES is burning me at the moment having had the price rise $7 since I bailed earlier this year. Can't win them all.

    BHP-where to next?

I just buy both when I can and hopefuly on small dips. I am still underweight in them so still plenty of SANF left for me in BHP and RIO.

    The benefits of eating out!

I think share trading basics and property renting should be part of your childrens education too. That is from a childless person though.

I read this forum, a general investing one, a share forum and a games network forum. Now guess which form that was from?

    ASX-where to next

No offence taken Sunfish, I just wish I had taken a bigger punt on BHP and RIO than I did so I would of been on the seat next to you. While they arn't as good a value as they were I am going to go for more when I can.

High Yielding Shares for a Retirement Income Stream

I have bought a few dogs of the ASX most have done ok for themselves. I did buy a managed fund in 87 that became a dog and stayed a dog for years after it has been good the last few years though. If your thinking of retiring later in life smsf is the best way to hold shares. You may also...

    ASX-where to next

While mining is flavour of the moment I have also done well with CCL, HVN, WOW, TLS ( yes I love to hate them but 15.5% return for 5 months is :) ) and SGB with a nice 0.25% discount off standard rates of my margin loan. I did miss my chance on ASX and CPU which have continued to climb, I...

    Macquarie Bank strategy questioned

I also hold MBL, MBLHB and I am looking at their Prime product. MBL just like BNB buys assets and spins them off into managed investments which they profit from every step of the way. Both need cheapish easy money and rising asset values to grow. MBL also has a range of property/share...

    ASX-where to next

No need to trigger CGT when you have margin loans to transfer out profits. So far in the market I am doubling my investment every 6 months by being agressive and using leverage. I am now defending my position while still being at full stretch growing my asset base, so unless the sky falls I...

    Financial Freedom through property

I think I took up the challange and increased my investments in one area by 500% for the calender year to date when I had the borrowing capacity for a 300% increase. I guess I enjoy pushing the limits :D

Does anyone not care about/have a dream house?

I am not all that fussed where I live as long as the yard is big enough, she on the other hand has an acceptable standard that must be met.
