    Commercial Property Valuation

I get where you're coming from but I think other things are more important. Valuation gives price today, and you can reasonably estimate that through yield and price/rent per sqm of comparable properties in the same reason. No biggie. The valuer cares about giving a fair and reasonable...

    Commercial Property Valuation

eh, i'll bite, most of them will do DCF analysis. That will give you a reasonable price. "Value" is much harder to quantify as it involves a degree of conjecture. The further value moves from price, the more certain of your conjecture you should be. I would imagine professional valuers are not...

    trading name - .com or .com.au ?

it's less important than you may think. What do the words Amazon, Google, Apple, Coles, Stockland, etc etc etc have to do with what the companies do? domain name trading is a multi million dollar industry

    Goldman Sachs

There are so many factors at play here. GS as a pinup for all that's wrong with big finance. The SEC trying to get back a scrap of credibility after being so utterly useless. The vested interests in the US political system. Now where's my popcorn maker

How long should I wait for MB contact?

Not saying anyone can be a MB but people did get loans before the broking industry came about. No offense intended (I always use a MB)

How long should I wait for MB contact?

Make sure both you and them are clear about expectations regarding what will be done and response times. They are also people too with families/stresses etc. Organising a loan isn't that hard but when **** goes wrong a broker really makes a difference as they know the territory well and can push...

    Nofollow

Hi I noticed that this isn't in use. When added to links it informs google not to consider the link in the page rank, and can be very effective in reducing the incentive to spam. Might be worth turning on for links in sigs/posts etc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nofollow Just an FYI.

    Managing retirement

They are reasonably savvy. Dad had 6-7 IP's at one stage but for some reason does not have them any more, I was quite young when this was going on so not sure what happened there. Would you believe my Dad even has a business card of a young Steve Navra from a company called Town & Country...

    Managing retirement

Thank you all for your replies. They are not looking for great growth, just roughly keeping pace with inflation (i.e 3%p.a.). They are at an age where what they have is what they have, and working an extra 2-3 years probably isn't going to make a huge difference. Or to put it another way...

    Managing retirement

interest rates at 10% in two years

Yes. Especially if its fixed :P Hehe, I realise there is not a one-to-one correspondence between changes in the short term rate and longer term rates. It was just an (admittedly contrived) example because in discussions about interest rates you can't assume everyone is paying variable with a...

interest rates at 10% in two years

Yes. Was just pointing out that some headline rates are already quite high, so if you were the sort of person that wanted to push peoples buttons to sell newspapers you could swing it pretty easily.

interest rates at 10% in two years

The 10 year fixed rate at CBA is ~8.5% Would only take 1.5% rise to get it to 10% - if the rba raised .25% at every second meeting we'd still be there in about a year. Now realistically who pays the 10 year fixed rate? But why let details like that get in the way of a good headline
