    When you pay deposit on contract, who gets interest until settlement?

    I wish to know if I pay 5% deposit under the terms of my purchase contract, and the remainder at settlement, who gets the interest on my 5%? Is this negotiable after the contract is signed, so I do not have to pay interest on my loan for the 5% in this period? thanks, Nic.
