    recording TV programs

Actually it's $99 for a 'Green' (24hr operation) external harddrive, a screwdriver and google search. Not many PVR's around for $460 (TiVo sale price recently) + $100 so $560 with 200hrs of recording. But each to there own.

    recording TV programs

If you want to record TV (commercial only) then get a TIVO... I know it sounds like an add but it's the easiest way to record TV and you can upgrade the 160Gb or 320Gb units to 1Tb (eg 200hr of recording) for almost nothing..... Even my parents can operate it! (as well as a 6yr old).

Rent a property - without the Garage??

Thanks for all the responses... I'll pass them on. It's a Townhouse in the ACT. Agent said 'street parking only'. As an aside, the place got broken into within two months... Just a quick screwdriver in a cheap screen glass doors and the latch was broken :( Deadbolts are now fitted...

Rent a property - without the Garage??

Hi, Recently had a friend of mine rent a property, a 2 level townhouse, and only found out that the adjoining car garage wasn't included in the rent when they asked for the keys while moving in. Seems the rental agreement said that the lease was for the rental of "12 nowhere place...

    tenants wont mow lawn

Yeah thanks Glenn... That is my opinion too unfortunately. I couldn't see how separate 'households' could be jointly responsible for mowing. And unfortunately i don't have any 'green thumbs' at tenants wanting to garden.

    tenants wont mow lawn

What about a duplex?? - Who mows it? Not wanting to hijack this thread but what about a similar situation where i own both side of a duplex which don't have separation fences. That is, both units share the large front/back yard. Who is liable for mowing the lawn and keeping the...

Wanted to buy: BHP @ $40

Umm have a look at the T/A (Technical Analysis) definition of a low/support. Wait for Higher-lowers and higher-highs. That is a sign of an up trend. We are no-where near that at the moment. You are writing PUTs in this market!!!:eek: Wow you must have BIG 'kohunas!' But i guess the...

Wanted to buy: BHP @ $40

Depends on whether the house was 200%(or more) overpriced to begin with i guess... The 'Stronger for Longer' thinking was what had priced everything to perfection, and now that it appears this might have been wishful thinking and media hype, so people don't see the same value. If someone can...

Peter Spann Strategy, anyone made it?

:o I disagree... but hey sounds like you know what you are talking about. Psychology of the trade is a personal perspective... You can't say that people are wrong wrong wrong... To say that is naive. Next you are going to say that Technical analysis is crap, fundamentals don't...

Peter Spann Strategy, anyone made it?

Hmm i guess sarcasm and a joke about seminars and 'their secrets' wasn't that obvious... And BTW A calendar spread doesn't have the down-side protection that this strategy provides... Maybe look into Warrants... These might provide some of the things you are looking for. I think this...

Peter Spann Strategy, anyone made it?

ummm... 1. It probably won't add up at the moment as everything is in a downtrend and PUTs are rather expensive at the moment :o:D 2. http://www.asx.com.au/asx/markets/searchOptionPrices.do?method=searchByUnderlyingCode&underlyingCode=LGL&optionType=B Try here to get rough prices...

Peter Spann Strategy, anyone made it?

Its been covered previously in this thread.. http://www.asx.com.au/investor/options/how/library/collar_protected_covered_write.htm Just make the Long PUT a longer dated one.

Peter Spann Strategy, anyone made it?

Remember the full Spann strategy has the long-dated PUT that is supposed to protect you from this... The issue is if there is a strong recovery after you write the call at a lower price you will be caught out. You might have the option of making most of the drop back from the increased...

Peter Spann Strategy, anyone made it?

Yeah of course because you end up with the shares anyway from the PUT being exercised. However i have seen the following two problems: 1. A short PUT takes a lot less money to trade (only the margin). Some 'investors' get greedy and sell more and more PUTs as it seems to work so well in an...

Peter Spann Strategy, anyone made it?

Covered calls are a very valid strategy if you have a long-term share portfolio and want extra income from them. I agree they are not a 'holy-grail' cash-cow. Naked PUTs do have the same payoff diagram but the psychology of trading them is vastly different. People seem to like seeing all...
