Leigh,
The bloke that I dealt with was from iselect. I basically requested a quote for IPI online and he rang me to discuss. According to him only MLC do IPI for Police and they cover for only a max of 5 years payments in event of claim. And the longest wait period pre claim was 90...
Same. In this modern world we live in there is very little need to carry large amount of cash on our person or have stashed at home. It is also very risky.
Your yield on IP1 seems terrible. Either you have been overly optimistic in its current value or the rent has been set way too low. On my calculations it is on a gross yield of only 3.5%
I think it depends on the quality of both mobile phone coverage and mobile internet coverage in the area. If they are both quite realible then I don't see a problem renting it without a phone line.
I know heaps of my friends (mostly late 30 somethings with kids who own their PPORs) who have...
What about getting a bit of Tuna into his diet via either Tuna Pasta or Tuna mornay etc. When I was a kid you would not of caught me dead eating a Tuna steak etc but I loved Tuna pasta and Tuna Mornay. Salmon Patties is another old favorite mum used to sneak into our diet as kids.
Then of...
I'm in a similar boat and I was hoping they could atleast offer me a 6 or even 12 month wait to reduce premiums due to me having sick leave and LSL of almost 12 months and death and TPD insurance, but according to the broker they could only offer a 90 day wait. Which company did you get your IPI...
It turns out its a mute point anyway. I don't qualify for decent IPI. You guys got me thinking that it wouldn't hurt to get a few quotes so I did. Because I'm a cop who (shock horror) carries a firearm on duty and works the means streets only 1 insurance company will touch me for IPI. Even then...
Where do I live. Canberra.
Why.
1. Wife was smart enough to buy it for a pitance in '99
2. 5 minutes drive to wife's work.
3. 25 minutes free bus ride to my work.
4. Great cafes/resturants/cinemas/retail.
5. Clean Air
6. Lots of walking areas and dog parks for our 40kg black Lab
7...
Nice choice! As I cop I get to drive new Falcons, Commodores, Camrys, Mondeos etc and without a doubt the best car I have driven at work in recent years is the unmarked Toyota Aurion V6 that we have. Difficult to pick as cop car as well :D
Unfortunately the above description is not just a generational thing, you have just perfectly described my direct supervisor who is in his late 40s! He regularly writes 1/2 page emails that could be 2 to 3 lines etc etc.
I agree with that wholeheartedly. My old man preferred to employee white Kiwi chippies/brickies etc over white aussies as in his experience white Kiwis were generally (but not always) harder workers and better tradies. The Kiwis were stoked to be making goood money (compared to sh%ty NZ wages)...
I used it years ago on my kitchen splashback with good results. That in conjunction with some laminate paint on the 80's pine veneer kitchen cupboards was a cheap way to modernise the kitchen for what was a cheap end property.
This is my mantra and It has held me in good stead so far. I would never pressure the wife to invest when she was uncomfortable with debt levels or the investment itself.
Consolidation time IMHO.
