    My first BAD tenant experience.....

"tenant wanted to break lease, which we agreed to with her paying re-let fees and rent until new tenant is found" Oh, we would let her leave, couldn't wait to get rid of her, but just wanted her to be liable if we couldn't find new tenants, as I believe is standard practice when a tenant...

    My first BAD tenant experience.....

Hi Xenia, yes I was surprised about her not being able to be blacklisted, but my PM says that as long as her rent is paid up to date, she won't be listed. It is a relief to get her out, as she came across as spiteful and wanted us to have to spend every cent we have on maintaining mostly...

    My first BAD tenant experience.....

PM was in court today, as tenant wanted to break lease, which we agreed to with her paying re-let fees and rent until new tenant is found, which is standard practice. Her grounds were that we haven't maintained the property, which is a load of crap - every single thing she asked for we had done...

    Govt insulation rebate

thanks Success for the link, here is one of the eligibility criteria, think we might get a quote: "don't already have ceiling insulation or you have ceiling insulation that is deemed as having negligible effectiveness (that is, ceiling insulation with very little or no insulation)"

    Govt insulation rebate

We have existing insulation in our roof, that spray in paper stuff, which has compressed over the years, someone told me that you can get the rebate if you have existing - but crappy insulation, anyone know if this is true?

what are your best cleaners for grime, mould, doors, benchtops, bathrooms.

I like the Woolies brand "Domestic", it is the same as Domestos but heaps cheaper. I put it in a spray bottle to clean my shower, great on mould.

    Who has a houskeeper ?

same thing happened when my husband did a short stint paving with local council. Now, my husband isn't a 'fast' worker by any means, he is slow and methodical, but he was told he was working too fast. Lasted about 3 months as the pace was unbearably slow.

    Who has a houskeeper ?

the one I have just had come is through an agency (aust & nz wide). Costs me $49 for the first two hours, then $17/hr if you want more hours. You can also book by the half hour after 2 hours. They will do anything from general cleaning, to washing, ironing, clean fridge/oven, windows etc which...

    Who has a houskeeper ?

I had a cleaner come for the first time today. Didn't get as much done as I expected (I used to clean a few houses when my kids were smaller and got heaps done in 2 hours), but figure it was her first time, so will see how next fortnight goes. She missed a few things like only cleaning the glass...

    Adoptees & Birth Families

thank you for your replies everyone, my husband rang his brother this morning, and we are now all having a bbq in a park after the initial airport meeting. Also, the brother was going to leave it a surprise for the mother that my husband would be meeting them on Friday. We both agree she should...

    Adoptees & Birth Families

I think he is genuine, he knew some of the same facts that hubby had found when he started his brief search. His name was the same as the name of one of the brother's names recorded on something, and he looked the right age. But, how does one tell for sure? I am all for him meeting with them...

    Adoptees & Birth Families

oh, it was new for him as well. His hands didn't stop shaking for about half an hour after he introduced himself. It's just a bit surreal, and weird...... I'm really nervous about the airport, hubby wants me and our daughters to go as well, he is usually so calm and collected, but he has...

    Adoptees & Birth Families

We had an unexpected visitor yesterday afternoon, my husband's "big brother" turned up at our front door. My husband was adopted out as a baby, so was his older brother, and apart from a little digging around at Births Deaths & Marriages a few years ago, hubby had lost interest in finding his...

what's the greatest capital gain you've made?

we bought our first investment property in 2003 for $65,000, and sold it exactly 12 months later for $125,000. Kick myself everday for selling it, as it was rented for $145.00 the week we settled and actually made us a couple of dollars a month

    Service Central

Thanks for the info Col. Good to hear from someone who has used the site, it looks really useful. I have arranged for my fans to be fitted next week, at a very good price, and I have also been in touch with another tradie from the site who is going to clean gutters on one of my IPs and some...

I agree, hopefully the feedback system is a good one. For major work, like my new kitchen, I will be asking to see photos of their previous work. Also, I never pay the full amount until I am satisfied with the work done. :)

    Service Central

hadn't heard of elance before, but I've just added it to my favourites as well. Benefit to me is that I won't be wasting my time, or tradesmens time in quoting for jobs that I can't afford. I will use it when I am ready for new PPOR kitchen, have had quotes which are way over my budget, maybe...

    Service Central

Hello I found this website when googling for an estimate on having some ceiling fans fitted in our home, and am so far pretty impressed. You log a job, just about every trade is included, and select a price bracket which you are willing to pay for the job. You only receive replies from...
