ASX 200 low: Predictions time capsule

Just for a laugh I drew a head and shoulders top on a scrap of paper two months ago when we were at 5000, it showed the All Ords dropping to 3200 so I shook my head and stuck it in the corner. It's been sitting next to my pc ever since. Now I'm looking at it with a staight face after seeing the...

    Which shares to buy now?

Not sure if you're trading short term upswings or trying to buy the lowest price for a long term invest here. Simple moving averages aren't the be all and end all but all the stocks I've looked at still have the red below the blue indicating the trend is still down. I'd rather see somebody miss...

    im calling bottom

Yes chilliaa, agreed, it's only somebody's opinion. This part of the quote that holds significance for me is this "In a panic, targets can get blown away. When markets make real bottoms, they fall hard." and has relevance to this post. I wouldn't like to be putting numbers on bottoms in the...

    im calling bottom

More predictions This is from an article in AFR on 17th September. I don't have a link so will just type an extract. ....The analyst (David Hunt) who correctly forecast the S&P/ASX200 would fall to 4800 is warning of another six weeks of falling share prices - with the benchmark as low as...

    asx nasty lead

hmmm IRE looks interesting, return on equity 50% last few years dropping to 34% last year, operating margin 50%, profit margin 25%, no debt (?), 90% payout ratio for dividends you'd think they would retain more earnings to get a better return with 50% ROE, wonder how they will fare over the next...

It's on the InvestEd forum. Click on the Realestate topic on the left then go to the articles half way down the page. Nice simple calculation, just the way I like 'em. Not sure if it's ok to link to the other forum in here? Darren

    CGA - Rixter or others

Steve yeah except the LOC is set up against equity in your PPOR and seperate to your P&I home loan. This LOC would be purely for IP deposits and expenses to keep your deductible debt seperate from your non deductible debt. Happy tax man :) . And mate I'm not an accountant, just here throwing...

    CGA - Rixter or others

Hey Steve, cheers mate. :p I was thinking LOC against PPOR initially and then against IP as they increase in value. And only costs your regular income doesn't cover when you have low yield properties. Darren

    CGA - Rixter or others

Using others to pay for your R&D, great idea. Hi Steve, hope you don't mind me asking a Q here. Rixter did you look at yield to help cover holding costs or did you focus mainly on capital growth and capitalise your holding costs? Thanks Darren

As an investor we could use Navra's Rental Reality check to calculate the price we should pay for an IP in a particular suburb. Of course the market will dictate the asking price at the time, which can be driven by emotion and non investment buyers. If the market price is too high at the time...

Alex I can see your point being able to accommodate vacancies a bit easier. I'm not really looking at redeveloping properties down the track at this stage, prefering to buy something I can hold long term with just basic maintenance. I seem to remember one of your posts mentioning buying new H/L...
