Anyone have HECS debt and what do they think about new budget rates?

So about 17K - 18K or thereabouts off the debt. That's NOT barely making a scratch on your HECS. Considering you're only 27... and you've been a full-time uni student for 7 years... and have been taking a few months off work every few years including having the last year off.. you've done...

Anyone have HECS debt and what do they think about new budget rates?

There have been lots of sums but no debt figure forthcoming. 5 years of Engineering (it's 4 years ft) and 2 of Masters by my calcs is closer to 50K.

Anyone have HECS debt and what do they think about new budget rates?

No that was not what i was responding to. All my posts were in response to this comment of yours. That is what I don't understand. So what was the exact debt amount and what have you paid off? We already know what you earned so why not tell us what the debt is??

Anyone have HECS debt and what do they think about new budget rates?

Why not give us figures to work off so we don't have to guess? What we do know is that you're 27yo and you did 7 years full time uni (even though UTS's engineering degree is 4 years ft)but at the same time worked for nearly 8 years with you earning 100Kpa for 3 1/2 years of the 7 - 8 years you...

OK not altogether confused but that one takes the cake.

Tony Abbott talking about mandatory drug testing for dole recipients

Agree.... but I thought datto meant he should be on a DSP which is almost twice the dole amount. If anything it's the DSP that's more disabling... and I don't mean just because he'd have more time on his hands to smoke cones and get fatter through excessive sitting. Datto I can't believe that...

    what would you do?

Thanks Yen. Based on the examination and history the vet is 99% sure it is a mild case of patellar luxation so surgery is a few years away if at all. .

    x rays ownership

Photographers still give you your photos to keep as your property even if the image is theirs and laws cover what others can and can't do with them. The same could apply for an xray but I can't see how this would be an issue for anyone... unless of course an xray was all of a sudden considered...

Anyone have HECS debt and what do they think about new budget rates?

You're right I did think that. Still... if he has an almost 'perpetual debt' he must owe a hell of a lot or he doesn't have a 'perpetual debt' and has paid off a fair bit and is left with 50K. Not that I care... but if he's going to put forward an argument it has to add up... and as your...

Anyone have HECS debt and what do they think about new budget rates?

The figures I gave were for 2014 so if anything Commerce appears to have gone up in line with inflation only. http://www.uts.edu.au/future-students/find-a-course/courses/c10067 100K for a 4 year Engineering degree + masters still appears excessive to me.

Anyone have HECS debt and what do they think about new budget rates?

Just checked the fees because I thought they were outrageously expensive. Student contribution (band 2) for Engineering at UTS is $8,613 per year in 2014. The most expensive courses are band 3 at $10,085 per year and band 1 are $6,044 per year.- no different to here. Now a 4 year degree too...

Anyone have HECS debt and what do they think about new budget rates?

I didn't realize uni fees varied so much from state to state. Adelaide Uni and UniSA's fees range from 6K to 10K per full year. nhg... what was the fee charge per year? 50K is a significant amount to pay off btw - wouldn't say 'barely made a scratch' at all. Just think... had you done 3-4...

Tony Abbott talking about mandatory drug testing for dole recipients

I'm all for drug and alcohol testing including for those already in employment; in particular those employed in areas that would be of higher OH&S concern which many low skill manual labour jobs are. Small businesses need employees who ends up on Workcover or place others at risk of injury or...

    what would you do?

One reason I question what vets do is because we once did take the option of putting a cat down and felt very much like the vet was a little disgusted with our decision - in that case it was not just cost but the poor long term prognosis and continuing care it would have required after being...

    what would you do?

I was thinking more about the hundreds of thousands of people with pets who don't have any savings. And I wondered if a vet would put down a pet for a minor condition because someone couldn't pay a small amount like say under $1000.

    what would you do?

The vet would have said that in case you got the idea that amputation was an option :p. So what happens to pets that require such expensive surgery and people can't afford it? I'm sure a lot of people couldn't afford a fraction of the 3.5K. Do vets put these pets down??
