Port Melbourne apartments - buy later?

Not really interested in cottages - looking for a place with a seaview, and anyway cottages seem to be especially vulnerable to burglars. I'm no handyman either. Also facilities such as pools etc are nice :) It seems to me at the moment that I'd be better off investing in blue chip shares and...

Port Melbourne apartments - buy later?

I don't recall seeing any wire screens in beachside apartments - I assume this is because of corrosion? Re cars I don't believe salt is a problem in a good underground carpark - I'm living beachside at Surfers at the moment and it's no problem here.

Port Melbourne apartments - buy later?

Not sure about maintenance - it wouldn't be much on fairly new upmarket apartments would it? I'm thinking my biggest expenses would be council rates and body corporate - does that sound right? I haven't investigated any of this yet. :) btw rent for these apartments (2br) is mostly...

Port Melbourne apartments - buy later?

I'm a newbie investor (full time private share trader/funds investor) looking at moving to an apartment in Beach St or on the Esplanade at Port Melbourne. I hear a lot of stories that prices will keep falling for a few years; I assume this is also true for $1m apartments in Port Melbourne as...

    Valuer on Gold Coast?

Thanks for that Sunstone! (just got my computer back up again after it spat the dummy!). I've been reading a lot on property investment recently and yes it does sound as though many professionals working in the real estate industry only know their own area of expertise and wouldn't...

    DeRoos NZ proposal

I think a good poker adage applies here: "If you look around the table and can't see the sucker, it's probably you!" :) I've read some Terry Ryder books recently, and I'm pretty sure what he'd have to say about this deal from the sound of it...

Thanks for the replies guys! So no one's done the course then? :( In case you're interested, I found out about it from Terry Boyd's article in the latest Qld Property & Lifestyle mag. The course costs $400 and is open to anyone, so is a lot cheaper than most seminars; also you're...

    shares over property,now.

AMP? A few brokers were saying it was a great buy a few months ago at $19. Then Rivkin told all his followers (baa-aa-aa-aa) to buy around $12. Today it hit 7.50... Should be a really good buy when it hits 50c! :)

    Carrara (Gold Coast QLD)

Thanks again Bundy - tooling along in your tire tracks I checked those out :); not the greatest looking residences, but like you say, it's the land you're paying for. A lot of the agents are telling me there've been big jumps in prices over the last coupla years - how much longer do you...
