    Once you add the carbon tax into the mix I'm sure defaults will go up. People can stop spending money on clothes/going out to eat but everyone needs electricity, gas and petrol no matter where you live.

    If you are sure about GFC2 - the best banks to short are Tier-2 banks like BOQ. Their loan book is absolutely shocking - they get the stuff that the Big 4 wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole.

    If your property is compulsorily acquired the government only has to compensate you for the property value, nothing more. I don't see why they have to get a perpetual lease at The Rocks instead as well.
