I'm not saying not go there. The food is great and it's good to have a look around. Although shopping isn't as cheap as it once was, you'd be better off in Hong Kong or the other SE Asian countries.

I've been to many areas of Malaysia. From the middle of Bukit Bintang to the outback areas of Kedah. Don't try to lecture me on what I do and don't know about the country. There is a reason why the locals stay away from particular areas and behave the way they do. What makes you think you know...

Facts are facts. If you're going there as a foreigner, stay in the touristy areas like Bukit Bintang. There is a lot of poverty in Malaysia so stay away from the poor areas...why does everyone have to try and correct me for saying the truth?

No doubt it plays a part. But my girlfriend is from there and she doesn't even ride a bike for those very reasons. Malaysia is a very pretentious place - it looks fine on the outside with the glitzy twin towers etc but once you scratch the surface you won't like it much...

I travel to Malaysia all the time. I have family there who tell me about this as well. So I am not making it up - and I don't need a study or a survey to prove it. This is why most people do not walk to places in Malaysia - they drive even if the distance is not too far.

Just don't go to places with lots of illegal immigrants. They are quite dangerous and it is very common in Malaysia for people on motorbikes to snatch your handbags. Always stay away from the roadside especially if you are a woman.

KL is ok. Just don't venture to bad States like Johor Bahru, stay in the main CBD.
