It's a question that I find really interesting. No, imo, the govt should never supply housing en masse any more than they do now. If IP tax benefits were to be suddenly withdrawn, and therefore IP investors started selling up and leaving the market, housing prices would most likely drop...

If you really think about it, what would happen to housing prices if there were no investors, just home owners?
