Wow factors to add value to a house

Hey Veseli, It's been a while but our stairs are done (not without minor dramas). To finally answer your question the materials (steel) and manufacturing falone cost $4,500 + we had to crane it in. You can check out a couple of pictures on my blog. It's not 100% safe yet at the moment. We...

Wow factors to add value to a house

Hi Veseli, Don't have the figures on the stairs yet. Still waiting for the invoice from the steel fabricator plus we're not sure what we are going to cover the treads in. I really want a glossy white material of some sort so will looks exactly like the rendered image but the trouble is...

Wow factors to add value to a house

We are currently looking into concrete kitchen benchtops as an alternative to the various stones. I just love the look of them especially when they are quite thick and when the whole thing is made as one mold. I will keep you guys posted on my research. Angel

Wow factors to add value to a house

I know what you mean Aaron, that's why I'm going to prepare a take away little pack or booklet for people who come to the open home which will highlight the awesome features of the house. Of course the stairs will be front and centre with an explanation of how its made and certification from the...

Wow factors to add value to a house

We took the design to the engineer and he worked it all out and we got the steel fabricators to custom make it. I don't really understand the physics side of the mechanics but at a very simple level steel treads are welded onto a steel stringer which is welded onto steel posts at either end...

Its solid steel so its very strong. We are going to get the engineer to give us a certificate for maximum load. I will keep you posted. Angel

Wow factors to add value to a house

OMG, I'm so excited!!! Our floating staircase got craned in. This is one of the big ticket WOW items for the house we are currently building in Forde. I've put up a vid of them being craned in and the rendered image of how it should look when the house is completed on my blog...

Wow factors to add value to a house

We just bought engineered in Blackbutt. I think it's a nice compromise and I like the fact it comes with a 25 year guarantee. Angel

Wow factors to add value to a house

I personally don't think WOW about an alarm system but is definitely on my desirable list. If I was living alone it would be a must have. The WOW factor for me is one of those keyless finger print recognition front door locks. We just recently bought one but haven't installed it yet. Love the...

Wow factors to add value to a house

He he thanks Elke, and no I'm not an interior designer. I'm an information designer. I guess a lot of the same design principles apply. My dream is to give up my day job and spend all my time building and renovating. The curtains look like raw silk to me with a backing layer. It doesn't...

Wow factors to add value to a house

Hi cjandlj, are you able to give me more info on the generic stone you use and the contact information on the stone mason you use? If it's the same thing I'd prefer to use that too as like you said there is no label on it. I'd rather spend the extra cash on upgrading appliance brands or putting...

Wow factors to add value to a house

Hi Elke, I agree with Melbournian, if its for a rental I would probably stay away from all 4 black walls. Even though black is the 'new black' at the moment its not everyone's cup of tea. Some people assosicate it with bad luck too etc. Personally I'd love it. I actually just give my master...

Ha ha ha recesses!!! I knew it had a name. Thanks Aaron. I love them. I did some more research over the weekend on bathrooms and the word on the street is there are a couple styles trending at the moment. They all say people are moving away from the bland whites. I get that but still think...
