details have just been released.. wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a block. seems the old waiting lists have been lost and its a new ball game. 50 blocks will go to business. then there's 100 with preference going to fhobs and OOs (dunno why fhob's get preference in all this bit anywway)...

well it still sucks up resources to cut up a block, it's just there isn;t much to look at when its done. the govt is selling them way below their intrinsic value as well. A cootage block in karratha for $200k is a bargain all day long

there are 2 systems for karratha...ballot for OOs, then the builders get allocated blocks that they can flog off to all and sundry however they run their own unofficial lists. my 3x2 transportable came in at $410k plus a few other things will take it to around $450k

there have been 'significant' releases in karratha for years yet no one on the list ever seems to score a jersey. T&R homes have a waiting list in excess of 2000 people now. that place was a basket case years ago and nothign ever changes. good place to make a buck tho

ah see that's where personal circumstances come into play... I have a cap loss sitting there that can soak it up tax free. And I am itching to build my new beach house and lower my portfolio LVR in the process.

$500 a week for half a room may sound exxy but I hear cleaners can earn well over $100 an hour cash... not a bad scenario for unskilled labour

Good analysis BC. I have a tough choice... do I hold for my 20% yield on cost or sell and bank $500k profit? I am thinking maybe rents of $2500pw are getting toppy and i should crystalise my gain. however if i were confident in capital values holding i would really like to hold for the cashflow...

unfortunately no where near enough to satisfy demand tho. The 79 lots recently sold wont even be titled till late next year (these are the owner occupier ones that sold out in 4 minutes?) the apartments are really good IMO. Once again will take some time to be built. Basic infrastructure is...

I read yesterday that Barnett is about to make a major policy statement regarding Karratha. they want marinas, high rise apartments etc to make theplace somewhere you live, rather than just a 2 year stint (I should be premier, I have been saying this for years). They plan to release 1000 blocks...

It actually has to rate to one of the highest cyclonic categories, which is part of the reason it is so incredibly expensive to build up there. There are extra cyclonic screws holding the tin down - and they cost $1 each FWIW!!! - not that the roofers care they throw them around like...
