yeh sometimes I have to pinch myself when I hear of the current property market downturn - or the market boom of a couple of years ago induced by Labor! and from what I can gather even Sydney is being ignored - all national property markets are measured by Melbourne now?

how about a society for the purpose of building (callit a 'building society)? or a rural and industries bank? oh that's right - been there done that, the 4 bank mafia own them all now the govt should just keep spinning them off, can do that all day long.

yeh I used dale alcock and because there is a lifetime structural warranty he goes over the top a bit on the engineering. I think we were 600mm too, or maybe it was 1000, cant recall now. that's a lot of clay to remove and replace with fresh fill!

you are confusing govt desire with actual supply. with no bank funding to build high density then the govt can go whistle unless they want to enter the development business themselves

spot on VY. I think apartments and high density builidngs are a wise investment now as there will be little supply coming thru the pipeline.

after reading the article I think it's because it's for one off houses. Larger developments failing to get off the ground will temper over all funds lent - and it's the larger apartment blocks etc that really contribute significantly to dwelling supply

i'm stuffed if i know how they are getting the money out of the banks...
