    can't really recall now... I think the house and lands were about $800k, so the house was probably around the $500k mark. It's the cost of freight, cyclonic fencing, cyclonic store rooms, quality air con units, heat pump hws, concrete etc that pushes the price up

    I am yet to see an explanation of how the replacement value of a house i.e the house and land and other development costs, can be significantly reduced. The chinese transportable houses ended up coming in more expensive than domestic solutions. And should WA taxpayers continue to subsidise land...

    20% in prices? that would put a 3x2 at about $700k and a 4x2 at about $800k - I don't believe it's dropped that far... perhaps 5-10%? the more I think about it, the more comical it is that a spruiker is attacking legitimate professionals - talk about taking the moral high ground!

    don't think there is anything particularly good or bad to report Marisa. that's the beauty of Karratha, it's a stable multi industry town. is the OTP stuff apartments? there are huge question marks over whether that stuff is at all suitable to this market, so was always going to be a hard sell.

    prices of contractors per hour I think is meant? however I would have thought the contractors leaving would have been workign for BHP anyway, else why leave if your hourly rate is on the increase?

    I think this is the crux. we were looking to put a camp into the centre of town but it seemed there was plenty of supply from the new camps

    it's always relative to the asset. it is far from cheap to construct anything up there

    I'd get a second opinion on that. I sold one not long ago that was leased at $1850... a 3x2. It was since re-leased at $1500. $1200 sounds ridiculous
