    Yes; if your staff are casuals, you don't have to pay them if they don't work on public hols. If they are full-time, you have to pay them normal hours even though the shop is closed, or they get a penalty rate of time and a half if they have to work.

    no, I have only one who part time now. He works overtime to fill in the rest of the hours required. Costs me more, but also allows me to pay less if the bottom falls out, and there is less in terms of sick leave, holiday pay, etc.
