Thanks G. Right on, Mr. Glib. Probably all of us here - by virtue of the fact that we are here on SS - will be in the group who are able to make profit from it. Pretty much every one here except for a small percentage are highly trained and educated folk in higher-end jobs which are probably...

Well, I hope that is the case Aaron for your sake. Mortgage broking might be safe for a good while yet. There are many people out there who were once high flying and thought it would never end, and are now the house cleaners and lawn mowers.

You brought California up as a much higher GDP than us, dude. I just gave you one example why. "So what", indeed. We would love to have the income and employment level in Aus that their "so what" industry provides. We do, and it is subsidised by us, because it makes a loss. Why is that? I...

That equation works well if "some of us" is less than 5. From my understanding, the predicted unemployment figure is set to rise even further by the end of this year. This is of course the quoted figures by the Gubb, which we all know is not accurate. Yes, there are some sectors which are...

I'm interested to know what the higher level businesses will be that ordinary folk who run little businesses now will be running when we need less tyre shops, less dress shops, less beauty parlours, less sports shops, less white goods shops, less chemists, less everything. Hell; even Maccas is...

California has more folk in it than the whole of Aus, so it wouldn't be hard to produce more than us. They also have an enormous workforce of unskilled and illegal immigrants who - due to their circumstances and the fact that it is a "fire on the spot" State - are way more productive and hard...

It's a chicken and egg thing. There are no jobs in the Country anymore, so why put in infrastructure, But if they put it in, will the jobs appear? I don't reckon they will. Farming is becoming more automated - less humans required, manufacturing is decreasing due to costs, and cost...

This would be due to the overall population in general, would it not? And, we have folk here who reckon we need another 50 mill people or so in Aus. Yep; good idea. Good if you could evenly distribute the folks around the Country, but guess what happens? Almost all the newbies move...

I reckon if I was TA I'd go on Q&A just for a shoit stir, and a laugh at the Lefties. Sorta like walking into the enemy's camp...takes courage. No doubt something that Jeff Kennett would do - he wasn't scared - and he would enjoy every second of cutting a swathe through the green cardigans...

yep. His laugh does me in, amongst other things. Hurry up and take over, Joe. About the most normal bloke they have, that doesn't get on people's nerves, I reckon.

Sounds like a nice result, but what would the nett result have been after all the purchase costs, selling costs and cap gains tax (assuming they have that in the UK)?

I was watching a recorded episode of Selling Houses Australia...... Far more interesting and probably far more useful to us little investors. I'll pay attention when Joe runs for Leader.

I've been watching Joe Hockey for many years. I've often thought he would eventually be the PM, and I still do. He takes no shoit from no-one....he has a strong presence, a quick and intelligent wit, is personable and very experienced. Watch that space.

As an employer, I will always vote Liberal. But, even if I was an employee, I would still vote Lib, because of their overall mindset of government which is broader and more Australia as a whole. Labour is more focused on the little guy, who isn't necessarily going to put Country before...

Terrific question, and I - as a Lib supporter - often ask myself it. I don't reckon the Libs can achieve miracles either, but I know that everyone has no confidence in Labor to do anything, soo the alternative can't be any worse.... Or can it?

As investors, we will hopefully benefit indirectly with our rent increases and CG. We already have our tax concessions and so on; they won't alter much. At the moment, the economy is stagnating, consumer and business confidence is down, jobs are disappearing left right and centre, living...

Nup; it's just more of the same from those oxygen thieves who do it all over the world. I'd love to see cops dressed all in black, wearing night vision goggles, patrolling the well-known areas at night for these wastes of humanity, then sneak up on them whilst they are being so brave and...

Andrew Bolt made the prediction the KRudd might even lose his own seat....it (Rudd losing his seat) was mentioned here before, of course. Just a reminder about how bad they are going if you had any doubts.
