    Unreliable tradies!

I don't think anyone has a problem with the tradies not being able to come due to hold ups/weather/life emergencies etc. The gripe that EVERYONE has with tradies is their total lack of thought in terms of keeping the customer informed in advance if they are going to not turn up/be late etc...

    Unreliable tradies!

Spent it all on boys' toys, grog, smokes and ink, and lost his licence/car "canaried"? :D

    Unreliable tradies!

That's right. And; make sure you buy him some beers so you get a decent job done - that doesn't come with the normal monetary incentives, apparently. To not do so might incur a "go slow" and/or sub-standard result. Generalising, of course.

    Unreliable tradies!

It's pretty simple. Here's what to do: "Brrrp,brrrp....brrrp,brrrrp..." (phone ringing) "Hello?" (Mrs. Smith answering her phone - she has a blocked sink) "Hi, Mrs. Smith; this is Paul Jones from A-Plus plumbing here. I'm supposed to be coming out to your house this morning to look at a...

    Unreliable tradies!

They are usually their own boss, and have no overheads other than vehicle and Pub Liab insurance, mostly. I've built 2 houses (not many compared to some) and a couple of renos where tradies were called in. Some have been really good. But generally; never do a fair dinkum week's work in...

    Unreliable tradies!

Same in our industry. We don't normally quote on services or specific repairs because there are too many unknowns and hiccups you cannot foresee. Stuff like blown light globes - eg; many of the cars these days require the battery to come out to change the headlight globe...another 15 mins on...

    Unreliable tradies!

Lack of understanding = expecting someone to show up for a decent week's work, and do a decent job, without being surprised when it happens. We all understand exactly how the construction industry works. Happily; a few tradies don't - and they are the good ones that are harder to find.
