    Interesting question. I think it depends on the person. A 'girly man' gay man definitely no. As with any minority that attracts phobia the person would need to prove themselves first and their sexuality (or race etc) then just comes over as second. 'He may be gay, but he's one of the blokes'...

    I reckon Wong would be a real 'iron lady' as leader. While Asian and lesbian tick boxes they also cross her off for Neanderthals, of which there are quite a few in Australia. Anyway she's a senator.

    Doesn't Rudd have a rather healthy margin? Do you think Rudd's electorate will vote even more in favour of libs than the national average? Will it swing in greater favour of the libs than other electorates.

    Abbott is prone to foot in mouth disease. The mad hatters political party will be very lucky to pick up one or two seats in lower house, and would side with the coalition if it came down to the wire. Where they might get some real power is the senate.

    Abbott's not shy of making a gaffe and will be judged more critically now that we are in election mode. Already, business bodies have called for early announcements of policy. It will give each side extra time to pick through the others policies; I believe an advantage for the incumbent...
