    Climate change?

Personally I prefer journalists not to self censor if it can be helped at all. Especially those employed on the govt's money - if ABC journalists started sitting on embarrassing govt stories that would have a very sticky end for Australia, regardless of who holds a majority in Parliament...

    Climate change?

Well it turns out I've been directed in this direction anyway. For anyone genuinely interested in the current state of play in global solar PV, this report is one of the better ones I've read.

    Climate change?

By the way, if I could be bothered googling up the list of new Chinese entrants to the market in that timeframe it would at least double that one. There's a lesson for this and other industries there! But I can't...

    Climate change?

Hi Sunfish Out of the thousands of renewable energy companies that paltry list doesn't exactly mean much. Aaron C - by rigourous application of that logic we would all still be flying around in biplanes and using candles instead of electrickery...

    Climate change?

I'm just saying nuclear and renewables don't mix precisely because nuclear is base load and can't follow either renewables or the load. It's a disadvantage of nuclear when you want to introduce something else. So Germany couldn't use its nuclear fleet to backup renewables even if they wanted...

    Climate change?

True but the same could be said for the development cost of every power generation technology at the time... back then usually bought by govt owned utilities around the world at massive risk and cost to the taxpayer but for good (and often bad) reasons... BTW I'm not advocating a cash...

    Climate change?

Not true. "Billions" is way too large and is no reflection of the level of REC subsidy in the Australian rooftop PV market. "Millions" is more accurate. Some European PV manufacturers are indeed going bust but others are going gangbusters. Same story with every power technology and every...

    Climate change?

The CSIRO has been consistent on this for the 20 something years I've been following the debate. They've just updated the information with data as it has become available. The reason I linked their website is because they just stick to the facts and haven't indulged in the type of...

    Climate change?

For anyone genuinely interested in the subject matter at hand in an Australian context, here is a good place to start. And here of course. Choose the area you want to know more about, click on the "in detail" tab and follow the references. A quick way to get to the main studies involved in...
