Talk about blowing my original comment out of proportion. I am house hunting and owners are adjusting their price expectations right before my very eyes, yet I must be wrong because the facts say otherwise. I am done with this ridiculous line of conversation.

My figures are anecdotal. A couple of houses we have been keeping an eye on have had no bids for weeks and price drops of around $30K on $600K, which is around 5%. That's all I'm trying to say. And ACT versus NSW? No need to be pedantic - it's the Canberra area and you know it.

Ditto. Things have softened here in the last six months with asking prices falling about 5% where I'm looking and buyer competition very low. I'd prefer prices to be 30% lower but you can't have everything!
