Ditto, maybe that should be more regulated.

I think if they got any higher people would self-mange more unless living interstate. I'm sure a simple computer program would alleviate most fines anyway.

Thanks! I wonder what the PM fees would be with the changes?? I was self-managing in WA up until 10 months ago. When the changes come in you'd have to have a huge checklist with procedures. It wouldn't be too bad if you were highly organised and were strict on your tenant selection.

kudos Aaron, I missed that! Excellent point! I had been meaning to double check if you had an agent if they would be responsible for a lot of the new fines.

The Fence, Burbs did supply an accurate summary for those not interested in reading ammendments thorougly. It was property owners chance to have their say if they didn't agree with the changes. Maybe if you were more familiar with the current RTA it would make more sense.

Thanks for clarification. Oh, I always thought people who lived in houses like yours were drug dealers. Now I know they're possibly landlords. Extract Does that apply to all of those areas of cleanliness and repairs, urgent repairs, quiet enjoyment, and securing premises in that regard...

I've read it previously, but I think they've taken it off the link burbs provided.

I've been really busy and haven't had the time to find the answer to this. Anyone know, does the new RTA allow you to use a PO Box rather than residential address? I'm pretty sure when a compulsive liar tenant took us to court, all our personal address details were given to them and we were...

I guess property management fees would need to double to cover extra staff for all the new fines???

Thanks Tom32. • S51(1)(b) Failure to give the tenant the owner’s address – fine $5,000 – some owners are reluctant to give tenants their address given the many incidents of violence from tenants towards owners. This is the scariest one for me! I'm...

It will be interesting to see if landlord insurance will change their cover to include the fines, or if insurance premiums will automatically increase heaps.

Landlords in WA about to be done over - Residential Tenancies Amendment Bill 2011

I think a lot of people who employ property managers have an attitude that it's not their problem, the property manager will fix it. They don't understand the current RTA, and don't care too much if there is a new one. I emailed the details of the changes to a friend who has about 5 WA...

If one letter lands on a politicians desk, it will be ignored. If three letters land on their desk, they'll look into more.

A higher yield for WA properties would be good, but I can just imagine it will backfire when more public housing is needed for low income earners and taxes rise.

Thanks Burbs. I'm sure when they realise there Homeswest waiting list will get longer and rents will rise when there are less investors they will think about it for a bit longer.

Hi Burbs, I'm sure you would get a much higher response if you provide a draft letter of objection and provide a link to postal address of MP's. I'm sure a lot more people object but are unsure what to write.
