Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

Typical short term thinking brought about by poll driven politicians and the 24hr news cycle.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

My concern from a property development point of view is that this argument (wider Carbon tax rather than just this) is just increasing uncertainty. I know from our perspective we can manage Carbon Tax as it is a largely known quantity so the costs can be modelled and worked out, and...

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

So, anyway, now that we have that off our chest. Back to carbon tax, eh? As it is nearly certain to be implemented, baring catastrophic collapse and new election (which is unlikely but I'm not writing it off), how would it be repealed after the next election? And would it actually be...

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

I'm more than happy to descend to your level if that is what you want. It was clearly a joking comment - my second sentence about their being nutters on both sides and it being important not to label those with a moderate position on either side as the same was the important part of that.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

It makes more sense when you wear tin foil hat ;) Like any pro/anti debate there are nutters on both sides. It pays not too label all of them as the same.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

There's a huge industry out there. But by the same token oil and coal producers have an even larger economic reason to oppose it, and push an agenda that makes man made global warming types look like evil communists dictators. Both sides are playing pretty dirty in this.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

Note to self - Sunfish posts are not yours :o I got confused because you came in swinging because you had a petty grudge to settle, and didn't contribute anything to the discussion. Get over your grudge. It's a different forum style here and I apologised. End of the matter as far as I am...

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

No arguements on that one. Been very poorly handled.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

I've deleted that post so let it go. And maybe learn something about how forums elsewhere work. You have called anyone who doesn't agree with you idiots and watermelons.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

No I'm not. I called you up for insulting those that didn't agree with you. Not the science.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

I also have a position. It's simple. Whether or not there is man made global warming or not there is a strong economic and social reason to pursue other energy sources. There needs to be funding for this. The carbon tax may provide this or it may not. There are funding mechanisms in place but...

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

I've read plenty. I just don't have the arrogance to assume I know more than someone with a science background.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

The topic is carbon tax. Not global warming. Mate. I have a position on that if you are actually going to allow discourse on that? Or are you just trying to stop opinions you don't agree with? What I don't like are personal attacks followed by a pathetic and fake it wasn't me attitude...

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

As I said, I don't have a position on it because I don't fully understand the science. For numerous long term economic reasons there should be research done into other energy sources. But turning it into personal attacks doesn't achieve anything.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

Come off it. You have referred to anyone who disagrees with your interpretation as a socialist who wants to redistribute money. Don't act innocent over this. It's gutter politics and you know it.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

You don't get it do you? By turning it into a political debate rather than a scientific debate you are doing the exact same thing that you criticise others for doing.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

But I don't see the IPCC abusing people as feeble minded. You go an about how scientists are shut down for daring to question to orthodoxy, when you yourself try and shut down any opposition to the orthodoxy on here.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

Twasn't me. I have always said I have no idea whether it is causing it or not, or even whether or not it is happening. But there are loads of other reasons to move away from fossil fuels, if only from an economic standpoint.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

It should have been advertised as a mechanism for achieving a transition to alternate power sources.

Getting rid of the Carbon Tax

Yes it is. So why did you raise SEAFRAME? You want a no-******** approach to looking at the Carbon Tax from a property perspective? Look at this link http://www.propertyoz.com.au/library/Carbon%20Tax%20Property%20Council%20Member%20Briefing.pdf
