No issue with what a politician earns. But, to backdate a large pay rise while telling public sector workers they take a pay cut or lose their jobs doesn't really endear politicians to that many people. The pay freeze was sound financial management. The large pay rise isn't.

Considering most ministers have only a laymans view of their portfolio they rely an awful lot on that advice.

But at a high level aren't they subject to the same potential bribery as politicians, especially considering most politicians rely on senior public servants for the in depth briefings and information? So if we increase politicians salaries for that reason the same logic dictates increading...

How about public servants?

Usual pollie trick. There is nearly always money to look after themselves. Just have to cut every other public service. Indefensible.
