Joking around, I linked you a house I am tying to sell. I can't remember which thread. You could rent it for enough that it was cash flow neutral, it's low maintenance, has Good proximity to amenities, and is in a high demand area for rentals. I'm selling it privately so it will go under...

Yeah, they are not far. I believe his (her? sorry) numbers there. I'm seeing ridiculous things happening in Clarkson, Merriwa, Butler & Ridgwood. This one struck me as particularly ambitious. http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-wa-clarkson-114457571

You may have missed this one, Redwing? I guess I'm kinda close to mandurah... You just hop on the train at Mandurah Stn, stay on it for 45 minutes until you hit Perth, then stay on it for another 35 until you hit Clarkson Stn. Then it's a leisurely 5-10 stroll to my place.

I wasn't questioning the Butler one. By "two numbers" I meant expected valuation and rental appraisal of the mandurah properties. I dont' disagree about brits etc creating a market there, but I feel like they'll fill up all the places with a 35 minute train ride first. Wanbro, Safety Bay...

Personally I'm sceptical about both of these numbers and would love hear more upon completion. I'm not trying to be a dick, AND my experience with the area is limited, they just sound a bit optimistic to me.

Regardless of house price, the repayments are in most cases still cheaper than renting. I don't agree with you.

Pretty weak anecdotal evidence, but: We just moved in to our new place about 4 weeks ago. 2 weeks later, the smaller (block and footprint) house across the road goes on the market for just over 10% more than we paid. Under offer after first home open.

I wonder how much my brand spanking new PPOR is worth now. (I'm guessing about half a percent more than our pruchase price, but I can only hope)
