Using a buy & hold strategy, in how many years did you reach financial independence?

Using a buy & hold strategy, in how many years did you reach financial independence?

I think we may be talking chalk and cheese here. Difference is I don't have any debt on my US properties. I am not reliant whatsoever on growth of US properties. US properties crashed 70% in 2007, US markets today have recovered even Detroit, though I would not touch this area. So what...

Using a buy & hold strategy, in how many years did you reach financial independence?

Being devils advocate here - As per HG scenario, still have to be able to service/access funds of $2.1M at 70% on $10M portfolio with a day job with no additional securities, that's a tough one. Also has anyone worked out compounding interest on $100,000 pa over a 10 year period, I don't...

The one shot at LOE withdrawal?? don't really get that one, what happens when you have chewed up "one off shot equity"?? do you then intend to sell down properties?? otherwise you are at the mercy of banks and their policies at that time, with no job it will be a tough gig. 70% LVR is too...

HE I think its great that you road the boom and if you have the desire to up skill using your equity that can get you there much quicker, as you say the buy and hold is too slow, all to their own. I retired 9 years ago riding the Perth property boom, mother of all booms from 2001-2006 just...

Using a buy & hold strategy, in how many years did you reach financial independence?

The greater the $ size of your portfolio, the safer you are? You reckon?? you must have purchased in the Syd market on the rise. When markets crash no property is safe and that goes for blue chip as well, they just fall harder, and equity can go backwards. If you have been through many...

Using a buy & hold strategy, in how many years did you reach financial independence?

If this is the case? LVR is too high? I can't see LOE working on these numbers. Retire - access equity, increase LVR, are the properties all in Syd?? if so you are stuffed because the boom is actually happening now and if I was a betting person we are probably not far from the peak, give...

There is a thread on living on $100K, do a search, I started this thread. There are a number of SS members that follow Mr Moustache and living comfortably on $50K+, they are tight wads....joking of course:p

All to their own, no crime in buy and hold, however if you up skill then you can improve on this, comes to whether you have the time and mindset, want to step outside your comfort zone if not then it is long slow process with resi

Actually Landlubber? was LOE, had I think perhaps 23 properties? not sure, but decent size portfolio, shares and SMSF. He did this for xx years but found that it was difficult so he tweaked it, perhaps sold down. May want to read his posts on this, was very interesting. LOE was promoted by many...

Not sure why this forum is terrible in retirement and what is the forum for retiring? I am curious Am guessing you believe most here dont share your end goals in terms of what income/asset base is required, not sure it really matters?? Also, I guess many investors I know who have retired...

As much as You need to be focused and consistent etc etc, however luck also plays a part in this It can go pear shaped if someone gets ill, loses their job, divorce 50% atm, that will screw the finances
