We have 4 hens and 2 dogs (and our dogs are trained to not eat the hens, and they are often left together unsupervised. I have been unable to teach my dogs anything but the most basic command - sit - but I have trained them so they don't eat a chicken, despite the odd bit of "lip licking"...
