What are you paying for your Variable rate?

You got it in one. You won't get a personal banker if you're going through a broker. I'm not advocating ditching the broker, but I was introduced to WBC via a broker and got really crappy service from them (WBC) initially. I then said that I wanted to borrow a heap more money soon and could I...

What are you paying for your Variable rate?

Yep, its interest only. I did the negotiations myself. I had existing loans at an 0.80% discount to the standard variable and basically asked them to match that rate on my new loan but to an 85% lend. They weren't too receptive initially and came up with an 0.80% discount but only to an 80%...

What are you paying for your Variable rate?

JenD, My attachment here might help you. Its the cover page on my new loan with WBC. You can see in the section titled "Annual Percentage Rate" that they are offering me two subtracted discounts of 0.30% and 0.40% respectively. That's a total subtracted discount of 0.70% pa. The reason...

What are you paying for your Variable rate?

Eyeyeyey... OK, firstly, Doncossack is already in the professionals package: So, no "incremental" cost incurred here to move over to a wealth package. He's on 6.82% in the wealth package! Secondly, deductibility is entirely dependent on the purpose of the loan. Mine is for my PPOR so...

What are you paying for your Variable rate?

Don, Heaps of power! Just print my post, or Dale's above stating how I got my standard variable rate down to 6.52% (0.8% discount) on my P&I loans with WBC. Take this to your banker and demand they match it or you'll walk. They'll put it to their retention department and the worst result...

What are you paying for your Variable rate?

I agree with Ian, It worked for me. Everybody here needs to realise that 0.7% (70 basis points) is now the standard pacaked loans reduction. We're special so we deserve 0.8%. Go ask for it. Cheers, Michael.

What are you paying for your Variable rate?

Woohoo! Thanks mostly to this post from Dale, I just managed to get my current PPOR, LOC and pre-approval for my IP variable rates all reduced to 6.52%, or an 80 basis point reduction on the standard variable rate. This is an ongoing reduction that is locked in at 80 basis points! :D...

What are you paying for your Variable rate?

Rixter, Was that to lock in an interest rate so you had certainty about your future cash flow liabilities, or do you expect this to be the more profitable rate for you over that period? I only ask since my current variable rate with WBC is 6.62%. All it would take is a 25 basis point drop...

What are you paying for your Variable rate?

Ace, Interesting, I too parted ways with NAB to come over to WBC. I think they need to do some soul searching... Cheers, Michael.

What are you paying for your Variable rate?

You guys rock! Having read this thread, I just gave my "relationship manager" at WBC a call. All I asked was "Am I on the 6.72% rate?" and she countered with "I can get you on 6.62% if we do a $1,000 top-up so I can restate it!" How unreal, I didn't even have to ask for the reduced rate...
