Apologies; I wasn't intending to suggest you were mistaken. I was responding to Tim86's situation. :) i.e. Even if Tim had it in writing that it was subdividable...

Even if it's in writing, it may not have helped. The courts are very reluctant to hold public authorities responsible for the economic consequences of their decisions, because to do so may compromise their ability to make - and change - decisions in the public interest, and also threatens the...

Good choice. :) It's a shame it didn't work out as well as you'd originally hoped, but you're making lemonade out of lemons, and actually, the lemonade's not half-bad! And you've learned some valuable lessons. Onward and upward!

Yes, perfect designs for sloping blocks. Ours is a custom design - most of their builds are customised to a greater or lesser extent - and one of the larger / more expensive homes they've done, but I think their standard range come in around the $300-400K mark, from memory. Really...

Tim86, why not develop the lots using properties on stumps, and avoid the need to build up at all? That's what we're doing for our new PPOR, which is in a flood zone with a new minimum habitable floor level that's about 2m above ground. We're doing a lightweight construction using...

It's possibly also relevant what the timeframe for all this is. The new City Plan came into effect 1 Jul 2014 that is a lot stricter regarding flooding potential. Were your reassurances that subdivision would be approved after that date? If your assurances were from before that date, I...
