    Another way to look at it is to see what happened had you bought a house 30 years ago in 1985... Purchased for $50,000 with a loan of $40,000. Interest only payments for 30 years, not a cent has been paid off. Over 30 years, you'd pay about $96,000 interest (assuming 8% average interest rate)...
