I've been looking at Ballarat for ages. Been down twice to look at property so not really. It's an area I'm comfortable with.

I put an offer in on a Ballarat property today for $270. Vendor will only discuss offers between the advertised price of $285-$295 and it's been on the market for 4 months.

I saw 12 in a day but haven't bought yet. Lake Wendouree is being refilled - according to the council website anyway

He didn't mention them but it's only one opinion. I'm going to head down there in a couple of weeks myself and will report back if I learn anything else.

Have a look at Ballarat on google maps. Lake Wendouree looks like it has water in it, but my locally living cousin told me it's empty. It's a man made lake but I was still taken aback.

So I see!! I tried to call cousin today but he was out. Will try again tomorrow. He's lived there his whole life (50 years) but as a bonafide local I guess I will have to take some of his opinions with a grain of salt. Still, will be good to know what areas the locals like.

I'm looking into Ballarat at present and I'm going to call family over the weekend, who have lived there for decades to get their vibe on good/bad areas. I'll report back in due course
