    That one is partly due to high property prices - some idiot somewhere deciding it costs more to flush your toilet and sweep your streets if your house price goes up. Catches out the oldies in areas that gentrified.

    The problem with that is, people are far, far more likely to SPEND that extra money on fun stuff than save or invest it. So that argument only actually works for people who are very disciplined tightwads (you know, like lots of people on this forum :D )

    Last time I checked the great australian dream was to own *one* house with room in the backyard for a hills hoist (ok, maybe one of those little fold up ones these days) not ten of them in 3-5 years ...
