Yep it will have no effect on other settings. When you install it it will ask you if you want to copy everything from outlook.

outlook's junk mail filter is useless if you only use it for e-mails and don't need the calendar and the other crap, you can try thunderbird instead. http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/

they don't nothing will stop it but spam filter although some e-mails seem to be seasonal different people also tend to get different kind of e-mails, i usually get penis enlargements, knock off watch and cheap medications, but i never get those scam letters

It does sound absurd doesn't it? However for whatever reason with e-mails people seem to not think that way. They feel there is a need to forward spam to everyone in their address book. At the moment about 90% of all e-mail traffic is junk mail. People need to start thinking before they press...

Use Thunderbird It has pretty good spam filter and after you teach it for a week it's pretty spot on.

I'm usually a final stop for all such e-mails, unless it's some really really good joke. And even in that case i would forward it only to a handful of close friends. Don't understand the obsession with forwarding every junk e-mail you get to everyone in your address book. You don't do that...
