Which would you prefer, a diamond or a barrow full of dirt you can't grow anything in? There are many of these operations in Africa and Central America but they all have one thing in common: They are all illegal and dangerous. Jobs best left to the pros. LOL

When I think of Rudd's "the minerals belong to all of us" statements I visualise thousands of people with a pick, shovel and wheelbarrow digging up the Pilbra. Once you've got your barrow load, what do you with it? Panning for gold is different but I don't know of any listed company working...

No. Only a hyperinflation scenario would have your interest rates below inflation. OK I know it happened briefly in the '70s but there have been millions of opportunities over the years, let's not live in the past.

I'm a D&Ger by SS definitions but I think you are taking things too literally. AUSTRALIA is not the US or Greece or Italy or anyone else. A brand new thought so I could never have expressed it before: We only need to be "above average" (and that doesn't say much) to be immune from hyper...

Total debts, private and government are way beyond the capacity of the debtors to repay. A continuation of the status quo is not an option. California is the seventh largest economy in the world and they are in big trouble. They have pushed taxes so hard, tax payers are moving interstate so they...

If TA didn't exist we'd have to invent it, which is why it was invented in the first place. FA is worth SFA to a trader and they can't be said to be "gambling". :D I no longer take funnymentals very seriously, at least for those stocks that are researched by all the brokerages. BHP price...

Well the DOW futures are up 400 pts. The cynic in me that says the market is pushed and pulled way beyond the "reasonable" degree on any news. It is just pros shaking the little guy out of the tree, leaving his dollars behind.

IF it happened it was incidental. These things happen and can be taken care of in the normal course of business. We are told that 60% of all trades are High Frequency Trades (Quants) and that it is good for the market by providing liquidity. Well for one minute the Market Makers weren't where...
