Does seem a bit steep, particularly the ongoing fee - at 48k p.a. you could have a part-time on-site practice manager instead. Depends on what exactly they will be doing for this fee. Might be better to do an initial review/assessment/plan and staff training, with some basic training on...

That's all good, but all the things you mentioned I think are the easy parts, the hard part, which you are experiencing now, is the people side of things. Though I'm sure you could probably find numerous examples of people who have succeeded in business without being strong people persons.

Yeah, once it goes over 200 posts we should start charging him. Also china, even if you engage a practice management consultant, it is worth learning some more about the back office/billing procedures etc. yourself anyway.

Hmm, I think it might be better for you to stick to your day job! I think with GPs mostly working in larger group practices that are businesses for tax purposes there is more of a market for this, as opposed to many specialists working solo in private practice.

Sounds good, I really don't know what sort of fees these people charge, but just keep it in perspective. If it can extend your career by 10 years then I would take the hit.

china, in my job I used to check these things regularly too. Instead of daily though, I would do it once a week initially, then once a month audit a random period of a few days and let staff know that I was doing a routine billing audit. Now I rarely check as the error rate is so low and...

Then I think it is even more an imperative to deal with these issues properly now, even if it means paying some extra fees for someone else to help you in areas that you may have some weakness. These fees will pale in comparison to what you could earn over the next 10 years, and the income and...

china, I'm curious if you enjoy your job? The consulting with clients and performing the services agreed upon outside the consulting room. If the staffing/administrative/business issues were dealt with properly, would you work longer rather than retire early? Or are you keen to get out of...

Yeah I'm not too sure about their fee structures, you'd have to negotiate this upfront with them and have a clear fee-for-service arrangement. Any service like this is going to cost you something in fees, particularly when you are in crisis mode. I know you co-ordinated all those individual...
