It is very easy to get good legal advice in Thailand, just like it is here. The trouble is people start doing things overseas that they wouldn't do here,

Australian marry a Thai lady - asset protection?

I have seen young people turn into ladyboys. It is certainly not done for prostitution reasons or financial reasons but seems a natural progression for some. In Thailand it is more accepted than it would be here. Some men just start dressing and identifying themselves as women. No big deal.;)

Australian marry a Thai lady - asset protection?

I spent a month as a monk many years ago. Nothing wrong with the truth, but there is little truth in this thread. Mainly stereotyping a whole nation based on 3 streets in bangkok. It would be similar to saying anyone that works in Kings Cross is a drug addict or a stripper.

Foreigners cannot own land. But they can own the house on the land. Foreigners can own apartments - i think there is a limit on the number of foreign owned in the complex. Although foreigners cannot own land there are several methods they can indirecctly control land: - registered 30 year...

Australian marry a Thai lady - asset protection?

Why do you think this? This isn't what the law says. I am a lawyer and am married to a Thai lady (born a lady too I might add!). Under Thai law any assets acquired during the marriage are to be split 50/50. It is pretty straght forward. Under Australian law it is much more complex...
