    Just had a look at the website for the book 'Affluenza', and read the first chapter (which is online). Very, very interesting. The thing that really struck a chord with me was the concept that, beyond a certain threshold, wealth and possessions doesn't add much to your life.

    I once heard it explained simply: If you have a possession that you can't give away, you don't own it - it owns you.

    If there's one thing which is very true for me, it's that having 'stuff' doesn't make you happy. It can bring temporary fun, elation, whatever, but it doesn't bring true, deep, satisfying happiness. My wife and I have gone to some effort over the past 3 or so years to stop buying things...
