Gas prices keep heading south and in US it is as cheap as coal link Here is also a chart on the oil/gas ratio today's ratio is 21, may be it is a good investment to make big gas storage places for use in the future...

I keep monitoring gas prices and in the main market in US are at lowest have been in months (this morning NATURAL GAS FUTR april delivery at 4.28 USD/MMBtu). Gas producer are not doing well in US as consequence and many players are shifting investment more towards oil as there is talk of gas...

Yes I agree that Australia in any case has got nothing to lose, also because most of those investments and risks is coming from overseas. But on the other hand once those project are finish the jobs are finished too and royalty to government would be related to spot gas prices

Love those contracts... Doesn't seems that hard to work out the value of the new deal, the problem is that all those deals will be eventually valued at prices when gas is supplied. Unless you hedge future prices, but, of course, none is going to hedge all the gas prices now for so many years...

I remember I have read about volume agreement not prices. probably, like I said before, prices can be hedged by either the seller then the buyers on the future markets. anyway I did some search and only found this

Luckily you can put you money where your mouth is and you can buy Gas futures if you believe the glut is temporary. Wonder if gas user would think the same and hedged possible oscillations in buying the futures. It can be that at present the demand for years ahead is much higher then what would...

thanks for that info, i was getting into working it out... anyway, i thought about a bit of where the gas is and who need it, coal is kind of same thing but more dirty then gas and oil. I am not sure about supply in asia as europe got all these pipes coming from asia (russia, kazhakistan and...

you can still buy the gas now and store it for a future use. or you can just buy the future up to dec 2017 which is quite expensive at nearly 8$ mmBtu, not much difference from the jan 2014 future at 7.6$ mmBtu. I guess it is quite expensive to store gas. I just realised that october future is...

still, i presume banks will not flog those company of money to invest over there. if gas prices are low i'll bet there will be delays and other project would have priority. it would also depend on the health of those energy company.

love this pricing at "the price should be" and not at market price. you can find gas price on bloomberg home page (bottom right) or at the commodity homepage, at present is much higher then when i posted at a whoopie 3.4 US$ mmbtu, that make the project at today market price and today US$ not...

I try to work out few things with gas prices and quantity they forecast (15 mil ton a year). With today prices of around 3US$ per mmBtu for lng it makes around 5 bil AU$ for a year wich is much less then the 300 bil AU$ over 25 years you read on press. May be I got the conversion wrong (here are...
